Mac Mail Favorites - All Inboxes

On some of the email accounts I add to Mail all the "sub" folders are showing up under "All Inboxes." See screen shot and the "Steve Wilkison SG" mailbox. I don't want that, but can't figure out what I am doing differently. How do I avoid the sub folders showing up there? Thanks for any help.

Hi there Steve Wilkison,

If you choose an existing mailbox as the location when you create new mailboxes, the new one is created within the existing mailbox like a subfolder. If you want to rearrange them, you can drag and drop the folders to the desired location. Learn more here: Create or delete mailboxes in Mail on Mac.

Best regards.

Hi MVegas21,

Thank you very much for your reply. However, I think I wasn't clear in my question. I'm not talking about adding *mailboxes,* but rather adding *accounts.* For example, in my image there is an *account* called "Comcast." When I added it to my Mail program only the *Inbox* for the Comcast account shows up under Favorites > All Inboxes. However, when I added the account "Steve Wilkison SG" to the program ALL the various mailboxes for that account show up under Favorites > All Inboxes. "Drafts," "Sent," "Junk," etc. All the various mailboxes for that account show up under Favorites > All Inboxes in a folder. I don't want that and can't figure out why it's only doing it to some of the accounts I add and not to others. Thanks again for any help.

Hi P. Phillips, yes, the little arrow toggles the mailboxes inside that folder. Click on it and they go away, click on it again and they reappear. But, I don't want them there at all. I don't want the triangle with the toggle ability. All my other accounts show ONLY the inbox under favorites. There is no arrow, no toggle. That's how I want this one to be also. Thanks.

Hi P.Phillips, Thanks again for you answer. Yes, I understand that the other folders are there for the other email accounts. But, as you point out, they have NOT been added to the favorites. That's my entire question in a nutshell. When I added the "Comcast" account (for example) to my mail program ONLY the "inbox" was placed in the Favorites. That's how I want it. However, when I added the Steve Wilkison SG account to my mail program ALL the various folders for that account were added to the Favorites (Drafts, Sent, Junk, etc.). How can I remove them from the Favorites and why were they added in the first place? I only want the "inbox" for each of my email accounts to show in the Favorites. Just like it is now for all the accounts EXCEPT the Steve Wilkison SG account. Thanks for any help!

Hi P. Phillips and thank you for your response. Yes, all the accounts in my mail program use IMAP for "Incoming Mail Server" and SMTP for "Outgoing Mail Server." What's even odder now is that I added this new account "Steve Wilkison SG" to my laptop and it shows up in the Mail program just like all the other ones, with only the inbox visible in the Favorites> All Inboxes. I still have no idea why it is showing up the way it is on my iMac with all the subfolders also visible in the Favorites > All Inboxes.

Hi Barney-15E, thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't seem to be a factor. All my email accounts, including the "rogue" one (Steve Wilkison SG) are blank under that setting.

That's what I am suggesting might be wrong. That account may need some path. My comment about mine all being blank was to support my statement that I don't know what it should be if it is not supposed to be blank.
