Please see the map below. Find My is walking me to a spot that is over 100 feet away from the path I was on. Should I trust it and assume my phone ended up where it is leading me?

Location services get the location from a variety of sources, Wi-Fi, GPS, bluetooth. The actual accuracy depends on how many of those signals the device receives and other factors (terrain, buildings, etc.). So, it should be fairly close. If you know you didn't leave a path, there shouldn't be any reason to extend too far beyond the path (unless, of course, someone decided to throw the phone into the lake).

It sounds like you're suggesting I stay near the path, which is 120 feet away north of where it brings me. Yes, this is a an area with low connectivity to anything, so I assume it's simply off by 100 feet or more given the conditions. Thanks!
The ice is 3 feet thick, so definitely not in the lake haha
One more fact that might be helpful...the missing phone shows up on my new phone after I set it up from my iCloud, but it does NOT show up when I log into iCloud from another device like a laptop. It is listed as a device, but not visible on the map.
And just to be clear, I was never at the spot that Find My brings me so it isn't an earlier ping that's showing up.
