Voicemail on T-Mobile doesn't work with wifi calling

Wifi calling enabled on both my husband and my iphone 12. Voicemails are delayed by at least an hour, sometimes several days. Meaning someone calls and leaves a voicemail, but it doesn't show up. I read an article about this issue and it suggested turning wifi calling off. I did that on my husband's phone and bingo, voicemails show up right away. Unfortunately, I use wifi calling for skype and can't turn it off. Also, if I am on wifi instead of using cellular data, my phone still rings, so this doesn't make any sense to me. T-Mobile says I must be connected to cellular for voicemail to work. Does anyone have any bright ideas for a work around? Is there another setting I can turn on or off?
