iPhone car stereo

I own an iPod and have that plugged into my car (via USB) for iTunes.

When I get in with my iPhone, the iPhone hijacks the system and plays songs purchased.

I have cellular turned off for "Music", and I do not use the Music app.

I do want the phone and GPS to play in the stereo while driving.

Short of deleting Music, is there a solution?

I also don't use Siri, and I don't use Screen Time.

You should be able to switch your vehicle from using Bluetooth for music to using your Media (iPod) connection. I know that my vehicle has that capability. If you are unsure, check with your vehicle manufacturer, or dealership.

There is no way for me to test this. I have an iPhone 13 Pro, and I can switch between Bluetooth and Media in my vehicle. I've never experienced it changing on its own either. Do you have the latest iOS installed on the iPhone 11? Up to you how to wish to move forward from here. I do not have a 2015 Honda CRV either. At least try contacting your local Honda dealer, since there may have been a software update to allow the vehicle's audio system to work with the newer iPhones.
