I understand you want to use a USB cable in lieu of any wireless connection. If the reason is simply that you will be using it in an environment that lacks a wireless network infrastructure, then read on.
That printer's specifications claim support for a number of wireless options. For example, read Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac - Apple Support, and follow the instructions under "Add a Bluetooth printer".
Most if not all AirPrint printers are capable of creating their peer-to-peer "wireless network" for the sole purpose of connecting to them, in which case simply adding it as an AirPrint printer will work like any other printer. You would need to select that printer's "wireless network" to connect to it.
If you do not wish to use Wi-Fi Direct, AirPrint, or Bluetooth, and you are required to use a cable, then I would avoid it unless HP explicitly states you can use a cable.
