iPhone Tries To Install Apps But Fails

Hello, I recently switched to a new phone and cannot download apps from my old phone (they were on the home screen as “preparing”) so i cancelled all of the auto downloads and got them from the app store for myself. This mainly fixed the problem, except for iMessage apps like GamePigeon that don’t show on the home screen… when trying to get it from the app store, it doesn’t work… how can i cancel the auto download and get gamepigeon?

iPhone XR, iOS 15

Gravity_,

Are you connected to a Wi-Fi network and have you tried restarting your device before attempting to download from the App Store? Restart your iPhone

Do you still see GamePigeon in your app drawer within iMessages? If so, can you try deleting it following the steps below, and download it as new again?

Delete iMessage apps

1. Open Messages.
2. Tap the Compose button Compose a message to start a new message. Or go to an existing conversation.
3. Swipe left over the app drawer and tap the More button more icon.
4. Swipe left over the app, then tap Delete.
5. Tap Done.

Keep us posted.

Thank you!

Hi there Gravity_,

If you are trying to find and download iMessage apps on your iPhone, follow these steps:

1. To go to the App Store for iMessage, tap the Store icon
2. Tap the ‘Get’ icon or the price icon next to the app, then tap Install. You might need to enter your Apple ID password to complete the purchase.
3. Tap the gray line or the Close (X) button to return to your message.

After the app downloads, you can find it in your app drawer.

This information can be found here: Use iMessage apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If something else is happening, please provide more details and if you are getting an error message of some kind.

Cheers!
