Siri doesn't find contacts on my new iPhone 13 Pro even though they are there. Other Siri functions like dictating text or looking up info on the internet work fine.

What is the solution to this? It's very annoying and makes driving with Car Play impossible. Sometimes it does find them, but only in a small percentage of the times. These are easy names I am trying to call, i.e. "call Headquarters"

Greetings and thank you for your reply.

This problem happens regardless of whether I am using CarPlay, or not, the behavior is the same.

When I asked to dial a specific contact, it says “I don’t see a (John Doe) in your contacts, who would you like to call? “

Once in a while it works, and Siri always responds to hey Siri, but 98% of the time, has the same response as above.

Hello Itunes4JSD,

Thank you for following up with us.

When you ask Siri other questions, such as "how's the weather" or "can you play a specific song," do you get the expected reply?

Let's check to see that the Contacts app is enabled for Siri. To do this, navigate to Settings > Siri & Search > Contacts. Toggle on all options there, and test the issue again.

Find out other changes you can make to Siri settings here: Change Siri settings on iPhone.

Take care.

What contacts account are you using? If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync

"If your contacts, calendars, and reminders are in iCloud, then iCloud automatically updates your information. If your information is in a third-party account, like Google or Yahoo, you can change your default account to iCloud. Changing your default account to iCloud won't move your existing information from a third-party service to iCloud."

We ask because it's possible this is from Microsoft InTune management which Siri can't recognize or understand. If you use some other account, such as your email or iCloud, it might work differently. You may need to ask your IT manager at work what options they have since this is a work device. Thanks.

Itunes4JSD,

If you activate Siri with the Side button, do you experience this behavior? Make sure that you have restarted iPhone and you're running the latest software in Settings > General > Software Update. If you have a VPN installed, please disabled it in Settings. Also, test this behavior on Wi-Fi and only your cell network.

Regards.

How I activate Siri doesn’t seem to influence the behavior. Side button or using hey Siri, same results.

Our company does apply Microsoft InTune management. I cannot get to any company resources without having that in place, and I had it on my older iPhone 8 plus and Siri functioned perfectly.

What’s interesting, is that Siri works perfectly for dictation, for example I am using it right now.

Thank you Melissa for your continued help.

The contacts I am trying to use are in iCloud Contacs. I tried all the steps in the (hyperlink) above but it still does not work, even after removing from phone, wait, re-enable, wait, and then re-boot phone and try again.

What I don't understand is that all the setting appear to be identical to my old iPhone 8PLUS, I laid them side-by-side and could not find any difference between them. I cannot see what's "under the hood" of MS InTune but it should be the same. Apple s/w versions are same on both devices.

Still not working...

Interesting enough, I think I found it, or at least a connection. I had my old iPhone 8PLUS, and a new iPad all on the same account. Turning contacts, calendars and reminders off in iCloud on all devices, then turning off the 8+ and the iPad (wifi model) and then testing again on the Iphone 13 PRO -- seems to work now.

What is strange is that the act of disabling and deleting the contacts, calendar and reminders from the iPhone seemed to be undone somehow. I toggled them off, accepted that it was going to delete them from the phone, and then rebooted. They were all there, and in checking the radio boxes for the iCloud contacts, calendar and reminders were all switched back on!

Really don't understand what just happened, but at least it is working now.

One more thing. I turned the iPad back on. It let me dial from the iPad via connection to the phone. But then, when I tried using Siri from the phone, it would not find the contact. Turned iPad off, and then iPhone worked again.

Don't understand what is going on, but I guess that having three devices all hitting the same iCloud, all with inTune management, was not playing nice with something in the phone.

Siri doesn't find contacts on my new iPhone 13 Pro even though they are there. Other Siri functions like dictating text or looking up info on the internet work fine.
