iPhone iOS 15.3.1 emails disappeared on iPhone and iMac

some time this morning, emails I read but kept in my Inbox( iPhone) just disappeared. New emails are coming through, it appears. I restarted the phone; deleted the Mail icon and all the email accounts then restarted the phone then again inputed all the email addresses but the old emails did not return.

I started up my iMac and when I opened up Mail the emails I lost on my iPhone were still in the Inbox ( note: I did not have my phone connected to my iMac ). But, then the emails on the iMac disappeared. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello there domgjr,

Thanks for posting here on the Apple Support Communities! This is a place where other Apple users can submit questions or respond to others to help lend a hand. Let's take a closer look as we do our best to provide some additional insight.

For the most part, emails are only added or deleted on more than one device as the changes are synced by your email server. If you haven't already, be sure to check your webmail using a regular web browser instead, and see if they may be in your Mac's Mail Trash folder: Delete emails in Mail on Mac

There, you can look for a recently deleted folder to see if the missing email may be recoverable there.

Otherwise, you may need to contact your email service provider directly to see if they can recover them on their end.

We hope this helps get you pointed in the right direction.

Take care.
