Macbook Air Keyboard Backlight Replacement

Hi,

My MB Air is out of warranty, and I'm just doing a manual replacement of the keyboard and backlight. I've purchased the parts, but I note that on the backlight there is a clear plastic covering. Is this a part of the backlight, or to be removed? Underneath, there are adhesive bits, so I would assume remove, but I've heard others say that it's part of the backlight, and helps with light dispersal.

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,

Gareth

I agree with the others here since we have no idea what keyboard you purchased or how that keyboard you purchased is made. That is a question you need to ask the manufacturer of the keyboard.

Usually you don't remove things from parts except for a protective film on the finished external facing side of a part such as an LCD Panel, or other external facing side of a part. Even then, you need to be careful since even then there are exceptions.
