Macbook Pro won't play video

Since yesterday I haven't been able to watch any videos on my 13-inch, Mid 2012 Macbook Pro running the latest OS available to me - Catalina 10.15.7 (19H1715).

Here is what I have tried so far

• Multiple video sites, thinking it was perhaps a YouTube issue
• Multiple browsers (Chrome and Safari)
• Tried to play a previously working file in QT Player and VLC and it doesn't load and causes the program to hang.
• Reset PRAM and SMC

Interestingly I have a standard user on the same device where there is no issue playing videos (my account is the admin).
