why doesn't Monterey work on iMac 27' MID2015?

27" iMac mid 2015:

one Mac website said mid2015 would accept monterey

installed it. yay! upgraded safari. via apple store.

shut down.

next morning, it was back to big sur and my desktop pic was also gone.

and apple's page says only late 2015

why?

iMac 27″, macOS 11.6

Monterey still won't install... Hoping someone here can help me finally get Monterey installed on my two year old iMac retina 5k 27inch (2019) machine. I've tried installing it a few times, and always get the same message after just a minute or so that there has been an error. Won't install. I tried deleting the installer and starting all over again 3 times, but it didn't work. Also, waited for Apple to fix the issue with the installer, hasn't happened. Any idea what it is? How to fix it? I hate not being up to date on security issues etc...

Monterey on Mac Mini M1 Only had the Mac Mini M1 for 5 months and so many problems with software. Originally arrived with Big Sur but then updated to Monterey. Disc Utility will not open and also Safari. I am not impressed with this at all. Might just go back to my Macbook Pro 2009 which has been 100% reliable since day one 12 years ago.

It has to be Late 2015 or later. You'll have to ask Apple Why, that's a corporate decision we have no access to as we are users like you.
