Apple TV asks to confirm using device not working

When trying to purchase something on my apple TV, the confirm using device option pops up. When I try clicking on that I get no verification on my iphone to continue. My phone and apple tv are both signed into the same apple id and are both on the same network.

Apple TV 4K, tvOS 15

What is the model iPhone? Does it have Touch ID or Face ID?

It requires tvOS 15 or later, and iOS/iPadOS 15 or later.

You have two minutes to react, before the transaction is canceled automatically.

You may need to activate iCloud Keychain for this to work.


Use an Apple device to sign in or make purchases on Apple TV - Apple Support

You should get a notification on devices that do not “sleep”. But the notification will also show once woken on the lock screen.
