Difference quality picture when mode viewing VS picture open

I have imported some pictures from my camera on my computer. There is quite a difference of quality between when I open my picture or when I see it in the preview mode. The preview mode gives a much better quality picture. Please see screenshot ( picture on the left is from the preview mode, picture on the right is when I open it).

Does someone know why is that? What do I need to do to have the optimal quality when I open my pictures fully?

Thank you

Hi

What spec is your mac. On my older macbook air, it can take quite some time to render an image opened at full size, or for editing. (Say up to 30 seconds). While it is rendering it will show a lower res copy.

Alternatively do you use iCloud photos with optimise mac storage. In that case it might be downloading a full resolution copy from iCloud when you open at full time or for editing. This can take much longer especially if your internet is slow. Even with faster internet it can take a minute or two.

Hi!

My Mac is from 2017 and I even updated to macOS Big Sur, thinking it could be related to that but unfortunately no.. I wait a while and there is no change.

And I use iCloud Photo and thought the same that the original high resolution photo would be available on the cloud but no, I can wait few minutes and there is no change there either. The only place I can see my pictures with the net resolution is on preview panel mode that's it..
