FireWire - USB-C adapter?

Hi,

Found an old LaCie external drive with only 2 firewire ports (picture below).

So the question is: how can I connect my old drive to my new Mac M1 that has just 2 USB-C ports?

(can't find any adapter ...)

Thanks

wow that's old. Those are firewire-400 ports, and the circular one is likely a Mac serial port that predates USB.

There is a set of adapters and cable you could use, but added up, these cost more than a new enclosure, and far more than a simple USB stunt-adapter direct to the drive.

You would need the Apple ThunderBolt-3 <-> ThunderBolt-2 adapter, about US$50.

Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter - AppleT

hen an apple ThunderBolt(2) to FireWire adapter US$29

Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter - Apple

then a simple 9-to-6 FireWire cable or a cheap adapter and a cable (9-to-6 is jargon for Firewire-800 9 pin to Firewire-400 6-pin)
