is there any way to stop showing holidays on my iPhone calendar
I only want appointments I enter to show up as 'dots' on my iPhone XR calendar screen. Is there any way to accomplish this?

Where is the “calendar app”?
Where is the “calendar app”?
Double check the settings in your calendar app.
Open the Calendar app ➡️ Calendars (Bottom Middle) ➡️ Uncheck any Holiday Calendars.

I see that my real question isn't obvious - even to me! - so I'll try again.
Right now, after entering an upcoming appointment's information on the appropriate day, I see a dot appear on that date when I look at the scrolling month screen. But I also see identical dots appearing on US holidays (and maybe other stuff that I haven't personally input) on this scrolling screen. So I can't tell, without diving down to a specific month screen, whether the dot represents a day on which I already have an appoint scheduled, or if it's just some holiday that is not of concern to me.
I had hoped to be able to turn off holiday markers on this calendar, as I can on other electronic calendar systems I have. But I haven't found that feature yet for my iPhone. Is it just another 'MIA' function?
The Calendar app cannot be deleted. If you are using iOS 14/15 then the Calendar app cannot be deleted since it is a part of iOS. It is probably accidentally removed from the Home Screen, however, still exists in the App Library. The App Library is the last Home Screen on your iPhone when you continue to SWIPE LEFT until you reach it. Once you are in the App Library, then you can search and find the Calendar app. Once found, then you can DRAG the app out of there and place it on your favorite spot of the Home Screen.

Yahoooo! I originally went to 'settings', found calendar, and assumed calendar settings would be there (it is named 'settings' after all). Oh well, I should have remembered the description of what happens when we 'assume'...
Thank you very much.
You are welcome. Glad you have been able to resolve the issue.
