Apple ID verification code

When signing in to ask a question, I get the verification code on the same mac that I'm signing into...why is that?

apple verification When I go to apple.com or icloud.com I always have to approve a new sign. When It asks for approval while using mozilla or safari I get the "your apple id is being used to sign in to a new device" on the same device I am signing in with. Shouldn't it only send it to any other device off mine? I also get the same message on my iphone but the number i need to enter is sent to me on my macbook, for signing in with the same macbook which doesn't make sense to me. If anyone can clarify why it does this or if it is normal I would appreciate it.

Verification code Dear sir and madam I am trying to log in to App Store with my Apple ID. After that, I have received the following message: An Apple ID verification code is required to sign in. Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices. of course I have received the verification code on my Iphone, but there is no "place" on my macbook to fill the code in? Apple ID verification Does Apple ID ever tell you to verify your account by answering your DOB, SS#, address and so on. Seems very intrusive and not appropriate.

The Mac is a trusted device, so it is cleared to receive codes.
