Blue highlighted area on my Mac

When I hit spacebar accidentally a blue highlighted area (like the one in the screenshot) pops out, which is not easy to get rid of.

It also causes problems while working in excel. When I try to edit cells and hit spacebar, it does not work properly. Instead, again, the same highlighted area pops out like the one in the screenshot 2 (now it is green)

If anyone knows how to get rid of it / fix it, please, let me know.

Thank you!
