OTP's not coming thru since iPhone and MacBook Pro Updates

Has anyone else had any problems receiving OTP's through their iPhone and/or MacBook Pro?

Your MacBook Pro is not a cellular telephone. It cannot send or receive SMS messages. However, messages may be handed off to it via an iPhone.

"OTP"? "One True Pairing"? What has this got to do with iPhone? Or with MacBook Pro?

For Two-Step Verification. I used to get the code in a message to both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro and since I have updated both I do not receive the messages.

I am trying to set it up for other apps not for Apple as that is already set up. Again, I used to get the code via text message to both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro.
