Sending an Apple product as a gift to someone overseas?

Anyone tried to send an Apple product to someone else that's based in another country? I'm from Singapore, I'm thinking of gifting an Apple product (say, Apple Watch) to someone in another country (Japan, Thailand, Taiwan etc). Any complications? How to do it?

  • Are Apple products universal? Meaning, it doesn't matter which country you buy them in, you can use them in another country?
  • Any way I could buy them in my own currency but have it delivered to the address in a different country?

You can't do that. You can't make a purchase in the Japanese store without a credit card issued in Japan with a Japanese billing address.

If you want to get one for someone, send them the money and let them buy it themselves.
