Trackpad's haptic feedback stopped working (kinda)

So about two weeks ago my haptic feedback stopped working, most of the time it does not work but sometimes it does, when I power off (not sleep) my mac and leave it untouched for several hours it might start to work, the issue is really unpredictable. Although no functionalities were changed while using the trackpad, but it feels really weird now to use the trackpad without haptics.

Actions taken so far:

  • Restarted my Mac several times.
  • Turned it off for several hours (kinda works).
  • Toggling trackpad settings.
  • Clearing NV RAM/P RAM.
  • Ran macOS diagnostics (no issues).

Device information:

  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
  • 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
  • 16 GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4X
  • Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB
  • macOS Monterey 12.2.1 (21D62)

I have seen other users reported this issue online, just wondering is it a software bug or hardware issue?

Note: My mac is not under warranty anymore and to me what it seems like a manufacturing defect, since I use my mac very carefully there are no damage on my device and I don't want to pay for Apple's manufacturing fault, so hoping to get a free service incase it's a hardware issue.

Perhaps a 'different reset' needs careful consideration..

..System Management Controller (SMC) ..it could need.

• How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

//support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

There are several features, across various Mac build models,

this reset can perform capably. IF yours has T2 chip, or other

these will need to be investigated; and re-set accordingly.

[Other routines, such as an occasional restart into Safe mode

are recommended; that would clear caches and other stuff.]

The details for correct reset of NVRAM or PRAM require

carefully adept, & timely use of the Four Keys + power.

//support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063

(This also has info about T2, how that can affect this reset.)

..You may have to go through all these, at least 2 or 3 x..

•From what I can tell, reading other similar user-issues, there's

definite possibility the unit should be scheduled for a Genius

appointment at Apple retail. •If not available, check into AASP

for an authorized Apple service provider inspection & repair.

Likely the Trackpad has a defect. (Most mac users get Extended

AppleCare+ coverage; adds 2 years and includes full warranty.)

If you talk to an official Apple retail store manager or Genius bar

supervisor, inquire politely if you could get a break in service cost.

As a fellow mac-user, & volunteer in ASC for nearly 20 years;

to have a polite, casual yet professional attitude, can go far.
