Latency issue when recording with Garageband and Blue Snowball USB microphone

This used to work perfectly years ago. After a long while I've tried using Garageband with my Blue Snowball USB microphone and recording with real time monitoring doesn't work as I'm now experiencing a very annoying latency/delay problem which makes impossible to monitor your on voice while wearing headphones. I'm on MacOS Monterey 12.2.1 and Garageband 10.4.5. I have the same issue with Audacity as well!

One of the main reason I've decided to start using a Mac was to have great sound support as it seems to be the de facto standard when it comes to media creators support. What is this all about?

Hello dkfi,

If you haven't yet, try checking/replacing cabling between the Mac and the microphone, and see if that helps out.

If you happen to have any other microphones to try out, that can help to further isolate it down.

To rule out anything interfering with things in the existing user account, you can try setting up an additional admin account, and test things out there. This page can help with setting that up, if needed: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Cheers.
