Howdy 81dreamer,
Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities!
As you're seeing your location isn't accurate when performing searches, this could be related to a few different possibilities. For starters, are you seeing that this occurs while connected to Wi-Fi as well as cellular data? In addition, does this occur regardless of where you're located within Louisiana, or is this occurring in a certain area or location only?
If you use iCloud Private Relay, this could be related to what you're experiencing. Check out the information below, which can be found via the following resource to see if that's related: About iCloud Private Relay
How Private Relay works
Normally when you browse the web, information contained in your web traffic, such as your DNS records and IP address, can be seen by your network provider and the websites you visit. This information could be used to determine your identity and build a profile of your location and browsing history over time. iCloud Private Relay is designed to protect your privacy by ensuring that when you browse the web in Safari, no single party—not even Apple—can see both who you are and what sites you're visiting.
When Private Relay is enabled, your requests are sent through two separate, secure internet relays. Your IP address is visible to your network provider and to the first relay, which is operated by Apple. Your DNS records are encrypted, so neither party can see the address of the website you’re trying to visit. The second relay, which is operated by a third-party content provider, generates a temporary IP address, decrypts the name of the website you requested and connects you to the site. All of this is done using the latest internet standards to maintain a high-performance browsing experience while protecting your privacy.
If you don't use iCloud Private Relay, this can occur based on Location Services preferences with certain networks. Check out the following information, which is also located here: About privacy and Location Services in iOS and iPadOS
How your device uses Location Services
With your permission, Location Services allows apps and websites (including Maps, Camera, Weather and other apps) to use information from mobile, Wi-Fi and Global Positioning System (GPS) networks and Bluetooth to determine your approximate location.
Apps that can show your location on the screen, including Maps, show your current (approximate) location using a blue marker. In Maps, if your location can’t be determined precisely, you’ll see a blue circle around the marker. The size of the circle shows how precisely your location can be determined – the smaller the circle, the greater the precision. When Location Services is active, a black or white arrow icon appears in the status bar.
Maps, directions and location-based apps depend on data services. These data services are subject to change and may not be available in all geographic areas, resulting in maps, directions or location-based information that may be unavailable, inaccurate or incomplete. Compare the information provided on the device with your surroundings and defer to signposts to resolve any discrepancies.
Find out more about Location Services and privacy.
If that information isn't helpful, let us know if you're able to isolate this to a specific network or location.
Have a great day!
