Navigation issue with Carplay

I have a Iphone 13 mini and a VW Passat with Carplay. No matter what app I use for navigation (Waze, Apple Maps, Google Maps) it just does not work right. My location is not accurate, the app recalculates my routes, i see no arrow just a circle, the circle does not move when the car moves etc. Everything else (phone, contacts, messages) works fine in Carplay. Also Android Auto navigation works fine on my other phone. I tried resetting the interface on my car, reconnecting the phone, updating to IOS 15.4. Nothing works.

Maps on Iphone is spot on. My car Nav also is spot on.

When I connect my Iphone to the car everything goes crazy.

I`ve tried everything but nothing works.

I`ll try a second Iphone and see what happens.

Hi LaurentiuLucaci,

Let us know what happens when you try a different phone. Also, make sure your iPhone is up-to-date to help resolve CarPlay issues. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch wirelessly
1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see two software update options available, choose the one that you want to install.

The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 14.8 or iOS 15.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.
You might see that your device is up to date and that there's an upgrade available. For example, even if your device is up to date with the latest version of iOS 14, there might be an option to upgrade to iOS 15. You might want to upgrade iOS when you pair an accessory with iPhone.

Also, check with the radio manufacturer or your car's dealership to ensure there are no firmware updates for the radio system. This could cause issues with CarPlay as well.

Best regards.

same issue here.. on any iPhone. I have 11 and 12 mini… I tried everything until it dawned upon me: it’s the cars dashboard electromagnetic interference. I move the iPhone up it works, I put it down near dashboard or even by the passenger seat, then map freezes. I don’t know how else to explain it. It could be the electromagnetic interference.

Hello LaurentiuLucaci,

So we know, with the Android working, that the issue isn't likely to be where you are - such as places with GPS interference. How was Maps working outside of CarPlay? Is it able to calculate your location properly?

We'd recommend these steps as well, from the article If Maps isn't working on your Apple device:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and make sure that Location Services is on and that Maps is set to While Using the App or Widgets.
  2. Make sure that you set the date, time, and time zone correctly on your device. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically.
  3. Make sure that cellular data or Wi-Fi is turned on, and that you have an active connection.
  4. Restart the Maps app. Swipe up on the app and pause, then swipe up again on the app preview to close it. Then open Maps again.
  5. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.
  6. Try a different location or switch to a different Wi-Fi network.

Location Services uses GPS, Bluetooth, crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspots, and cellular towers to determine your location. Learn more about Location Services on your iOS device.

Thanks!
