Shortcut automation - video immediate start not working

I have created an IOS shortcut that is time based to open the camera app. I have it set to “take video with back camera to start recording immediately and then set to save to recents in camera roll.

When the shortcut hits the time, it opens the camera app, but just sits there and wants me to hit the record button. This defeats the automation process.

Same results on both iPad and iphone. iPhone is ProMax 13 and IPad Pro. Both are running IOS 15.4

Hello dlrbox,

It sounds as though you're wanting an automation you created in the Shortcuts app to start recording a video immediately at a desired time. You've come to a great place for help! There are several options for when a recording can start for an automation. To view and adjust this setting please open the Shortcuts app and tap Automation, followed by the specific automation you're wanting to modify. When the Edit Automation screen appears tap on Take Video, then tap the (>) icon, followed by Start Recording. From here you'll be able to select On Tap, Immediately, or Ask Each Time. Upon choosing the desired setting, tap Edit Automation towards the top-left, then tap Done towards the top-right. This will save the modifications you've made to that automation.

If Immediately was already selected, tap a different option and save it, then change the settings back to Immediately to see if the issue is resolved. If that step doesn't resolve the issue, you'll want to delete and recreate the automation. To delete an automation, swipe from right to left across the automation in Automation tap of the Shortcuts app. For reference, the steps for creating an automation can be found using the following link.

Hi Todd0123,

followed your instructions exactly. No change. When the shortcut runs, it launches the camera app, but it just sits there waiting for someone to hit the record button.

when I am in the automation and hit the triangle at the bottom, which immediately launches the shortcut, it works fine. Just does not work when the timer goes off.
