No support for alternative keyboard layouts?

I use the Colemak layout on my mac, typing on the mac keyboard using UC on the iPad does not use Colemak but qwerty

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.3

On the iPad, go to settings > general > keyboard. Do you have an item called Hardware Keyboard. If so, tap over at the right edge and make sure that Colemak is checked and not "automatic".
