applescript forever Monterey

I have the follow ing AppleScript as a script( just added as an application) in my Scripts folder... It has run forever and still does on an MB Pro running Big Sur. On a 2019 Mac running Monterey 12.3 (started with this download) it doesn't work, just showing Moneydance in the top left and Moneydance in the dock but never opens.

I added it as an app thinking that might work, but no luck. Safe booted, recopied the script, still no luck!

Used automator and that worked but would like to get the AppleScript working:

For what it's worth, STUFF is a mounted .dmg

Many thanks

tell application "Finder"

activate

open document file "Mdance.moneydance" of folder "Mdx" of folder "BANKING" of disk "STUFF"

end tell

set myApp to "TextWrangler"
tell application myApp
if it is not running then launch myApp
	activate application myApp
end tell

just change

set myApp to "TextWrangler"

to

set myApp to "Moneydance"

I have seen most people do as the code is written above.

give this a try. Not sure if this will work when application is on a external disk.

Just found out that just opening the parent application with this script, does the same thing:

As some may know, Moneydance allows you to put the data file (checkbook) in another location to secure it from prying eyes, hence the (protected) .dmg So, if the .dmg isn't open, the data can't be viewed.

But it's very odd that launching the app does the same thing !!!

tell application "Finder"

activate

open application file "Moneydance.app" of folder "Applications" of startup disk

end tell

Here's a pic of Automator that works fine:

Thanks again
