Recently my desktop (running MAC OS Monterey v.12.2.1) will not save passwords. Ran through some suggestions I found - verifying iCloud, update Apple ID password, etc. - but still nothing. What can I do? Please if giving suggestions, give me step by step since I don't have anyone to help me find things by name and this is a bit foreign to me.

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! Does this only happen when trying to save a password on a specific website? We asked because some sites to not allow passwords to be saved? We would also suggest the guidance in the following article that may also help:

I tried to check on the iCloud stuff but it said it wasn't installed. So, I ran an install on it and several things got screwed up. Would prefer not to use iCloud right now. (I will take classes on iCloud at my library and may do so later.) My desktop used to store passwords on it without issue until the last 2 updates to the system software made them disappear. It does not even save my computer to recognize it when I sign into Apple website. Getting very frustrated.
Really just want my computer to remember passwords for sites I use all the time.
