iPhone Update 15.4: I need this REMOVED!

iPhone Update 15.4 has really messed up my iPhone 8+.

  1. I am very hard of hearing and my Oticon On app, which connects to my hearing aid absolutely will not work. I have turned off/on wi-fi; turned off/on bluetooth; disconnected/reconnected the hearing aid in Accessibility; turned the hearing aid off and on. Nothing. I have the same problem on iPad. Both - along with desktop & laptop updates were done last night. I have deleted both Oticon On apps as they are useless to me now.
  2. I went on to the iOS App Store to report this problem/review on Oticon On, and they had an old review of mine that is about 6 months old. It said "Submit." I had submitted it after I wrote it. But it remained with "Submit." I cannot write an updated review of Oticon On on the iOS App Store.
  3. This update is also eating my battery BIG TIME !!

I believe there is a way to remove an update. I need to remove this update on both my mobile devices. Can someone help me, please? I need my phone to work properly and also my hearing aid app.

Apple really needs to work on this update.

You need to realize that your problem is with the hearing aid App, not Apple. This update contains many important security features. You might check this link as it could help you to contact the app designer.

I share your frustraton! After the last Apple update, my hearing aid app did not work for over a month. Finally the app was updated and worked again. I just checked and mine is still working, at least until the next Apple update. Your hearing aids should still be working, it's only the app that is not. I have learned to accept the fact that the app will not keep up with the Apple updates. Of course, the security features of the Apple update are probably more important than our apps. Good Luck!

I've heard from my audiologist this morning. She contacted Oticon. This is what she said,

"Just talked with Oticon. Yes update did break the connection to your hearing aids and every other hearing aid in the world! Not just an Oticon problem but every manufacturer. That is the good news because it means Apple has to fix it soon. This happened before and they fixed it. So watch for a new update on the iOS side.

On your end, you can forget your hearing aids from the phone (accessibility, Hearing Devices, forget this device) and then pair them again. This will completely fix the problem. Only issue is that if you power off your phone you will have to do it again. Until Apple releases a fix.

I know that is not great but hopefully workable. If you have any questions, please call."

All of us h-o-h folks will have to support each other in this struggle. Apple WILL have to fix this one: it is a major crash. I shall bring my O-O apps back on to my mobiles and wait for an update. - which I hope is soon. I hope you are hanging in there.

And so begins the blame game! All apps developers are subject to Apple's legal terms and are responsible for keeping their apps up to date. Apple is not responsible for app snags. Yes, sometimes an Apple update will fix an app, but it is ultimately up to the app developer to update their app. Apple is much more concerned with the usefulness and security of their software to worry about your hearing aids. Much to my surprise, my hearing aid app still works, but I don't rely much on it anyway, since the next update may take it down. Good Luck, I hope your issue will resolve itself soon..
