Apple Pencil 2 small metalic-like dot

Hello. Just got an Apple Pencil 2 today and noticed a small dot on it. Now, it’s at the same level as the rest of the pen, so it should not leave any scratches but it’s messing with my OCD a bit.

Is this something common or will this cause scratching issue down the line due to a quality issue with the pen?

Are you certain that it was present when removed from the box, before use, or did you notice this after the Pencil had been paired and used for the first time?

As described, you might have a very tiny cosmetic blemish. If you cannot feel the blemish, it is unlikely to offer any threat to the cosmetic finish of your iPad. You should however, be sure to keep the mating surfaces clean of dust or grit when docking the Pencil with the iPad to pair and charge. Environmental dust and dirt can be abrasive - and, over time abrade the anodised finish of the iPad chassis.

If purchased directly from Apple, if you are unhappy in any way, you have benefit of Apple’s very generous 14-day returns period - within which you can unconditionally return an Apple product for exchange or return.

I did not inspect it that much (the dot is really small) but I did take in consideration the environmental concerns, well before I paired it, so this is unlikely to be from dust.

Indeed as far as I can see it’s just cosmetical, so I would not return it just because of this reason. I would be a bit concerned if this was more than meets the eye.
