iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen - DFU without working power button

Hi guys!

I am happy new owner of my frist iPad Pro 12.9" 2nd gen. As You guessed already it's a second hand purchase.

The iPad came to me with an issue (I knew about):

- Power button is not working. Its fully clickable, but nothing happens after I click it, or hold it.

My first guess is to try to restore the device using DFU mode. Previous owner just said he tried to restore the device to factory settings, but did not try the DFU.

Is there any way I can do it without the power button?

I have also small second question. The iPad came to me with logitech slim keyboard, it is normal that after attaching the keyboard to iPad, the touchscreen or ipad itself is not responsive for few seconds? (about 5 seconds or little above it).

Thanks,

David

It is a common misconception that an iPad (or iPhone) can remain fully functional with damaged or defective physical buttons.

Whilst Accessibility features (such as assistive touch) can be used to augment the User Interface, these features cannot be used as a substitute for physical button sequences that must be used to trigger system recovery actions. Sooner or later, as now, you will encounter a situation from which you cannot recover.

Until repaired, you will not be able to perform a hardware DFU recovery - or reset a forgotten device passcode.

You don't understand the situation correctly. My english is not wonderful, but why you assumed that this is for sure damaged or defective physical button?
I called three fixing services, including the official Apple partner here in Poland - Cortland. They all said that this issue is not common or two of them said it's weird, they never had such problem with this iPads before - they were suprised.

That's why I did search, and I found that trying DFU restore might solve this issue (it might be software issue) and so I ended up here.
But if I am right as You say - there is no legal way to do DFU without this button(?)

By your own description, you have stated that you have purchased a second-hand iPad with a known issue - this being a non-functioning Top (a.k.a. Sleep/Wake) button.

Unless the Top and other physical buttons are fully working, you’ll not be able to trigger the DFU process.

Yep, I did a small research before I decided to write a question here. I found one app, but there I have to download correct iPadOS on my own... I don't want to break anything, and I don't want to do anything against Apple Rules. So I don't want any "jailbreaking" or stuff like this.

Is there any app that is not against it? or perhaps You mean app that will just put the device in DFU mode, and the rest will do iTunes? I will have to look for it :) thanks
