Requesting PIN instead of Password

For some weird reason, when I don't use my mac for a decent amount of time, it asks me for a PIN instead for the password. However, the message says "Your password is required to enable touch ID" but in the gray box where you introduce your password, it says "PIN" which is weird because I don't remember assigning a PIN to my MacBook Pro. I tried using my iPhone pin and still is not working. Unfortunately, I had to long press the touch ID button to restart my computer and kinda lost a lot of information that apparently I forgot to save. This is bothering me so much, since it has happened a few times already. Look at the image attached and you'll see my observance. I looked and read all of the forums related to the "Touch ID disable" topic, but NONE of them covers my issue. Please, help me out!
