Notification sounds with headphones are broken and will damage users ears

There is no way of fixing the notification loudness on the iphone with headphones. It's annoying and dangerous. If im listening to music at a high level, the message notification comes through at ear blasting volume. I tried going to sound and haptics and changing that slider but that only works for the iphone speaker, it does not work with the headphone.

THIS HAS to be fixed. Its dangerous for peoples hearings. I dont want to put my phone on do not disturb every time I listen to music. I dont want to have to remember to do so, so that I dont blow my ears out. Make it so I can control the volume on the iphone notifications independently from the rest of the audio. I mean, microsoft has this built-in...c'mon.

it's downright negligent and dangerous that this has not been addressed by apple.

Hello sct0005,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. You have the ability to adjust the alert volume while using headphones. Doing so can have the alert for notifications come in lower than the volume of your music. The steps to do so can be found here:

Headphone notifications on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch

Specific guidance is listed under "About headphone notifications and volume". Feel free to reach back out if you have any questions.

Have a great day!
