Security & Privacy Privacy Location Services changes not persistent through a reboot

The addition of applications to the Location Services list does not persist through a reboot.

A change to disable Location Services also does not persist through a reboot.

This is also the case with safe mode, starting by booting into safe mode, making a change, and then rebooting into safe mode.

The system has several accounts, and the problem occurs in each account.

I have made changes in several other security categories (like calendars, contacts) which do persist.

The system involved is a MacBook Air running Monterey. I have a similar iMacPro which behaves correctly.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.2

Hey there, jdholt77!

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

You should definitely be able to keep those changes after rebooting. Have you made sure that your Mac is on the latest version of macOS? Those updates include new features but also include bug fixes and security updates so it's a good idea to make sure. Here's where to start: Update macOS on Mac

If that doesn't do the trick, it wouldn't be a bad idea to back up your Mac and reinstall macOS. This won't erase your data as it just installs a fresh copy of the operating system on your computer: How to reinstall macOS

We hope that this information is helpful.

Have a great day!
