New Mac mini won’t connect to existing iMac

I am having trouble connecting my new Mac mini to my existing iMac. Using a thunderbolt 2 cable with thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 converter. My iMac is a 27inch late 2012 mode, running macOS Sierra version 10.12.6

Your new Mac mini may not support Target Display Mode. Here is an article that may help.

  • The other Mac that you're connecting it to must have been introduced in 2019 or earlier and have macOS Catalina or earlier installed.


There are ZERO workarounds, ZERO adapters or magic wands that can make it work, period!


Do yourself a favor a quit wasting time on the impossible and simply sell the iMac and put the money toward a new display.


I have a late 2013 27" iMac and can verify that it is an impossible task.
