iPhone 13 camera

Every time I turn on my selfie camera to take a photo (especially in portrait), my skin looks okay which I like. However, as soon as I take the actual picture, everything gets processed and distorted to expose my pores and tiny blemishes. This makes the photo completely unflattering and dissatisfactory. How do I activate a beauty mode on the iPhone 13 camera photos and videos?

With the option that you've selected, it is expected behavior for the final image to be high quality. You can test different settings as well as turning off HD (if you have it on), if you would like the photos to look slightly different.
