iPhone losing Cellular

Recently I have noticed the following - when I leave the apartment (away from my wifi) and go outside, intermittently the phone doesn't pick up the cellular coverage. There's just four dots at the right hand top of the screen. Toggling off wifi or cellular doesn't do anything. But when I power off and on it picks up the cellular coverage right away. I assume this is due to an update. Anyone else seeing this issue? Any ideas? My iPhone 13 Pro is using iOS 15.4. On ATT 5G.

Try first to optimize the range of the mobile network, see this Apple article:

I have this same issue since a recent iOS update - it immediately started happening the day I installed the update. Toggling airplane mode on / off has been the temporary solution for me.

Do you use a virtual or physical sim? What carrier?

When you leave the apartment, Home Wi-Fi is automatically disconnected.

Then you need to turn On Mobile Data or use Public Wi-Fi, see -> this Apple article: Use captive Wi-Fi networks on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Use captive Wi-Fi networks on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support (UK)

Contact your carrier about your data plan.

Thanks for replying. And apologies, I will try to be clearer. Normally when you move away from a wifi connection your cellular kicks in and connects. But for some reason, quite often, when I move out of wifi range it now won't find any cellular. But when I power the phone off and on it finds my att connection just fine. I assume it's an apple iOS bug rather than anything else. And am guessing it's not just me affected.
