Black levels / contrast change with subtitles in Apple tv app on mac

I'll try to be clear and detailed:

Each time a subtitle is displayed, the black level (or the contrast if you prefer) on the full screen slightly becomes brighter. The result is a flashing movie each time someone is speaking (subtitles). I have a M1 Mac 2020 and this bug isn't fixed yet.

Apple TV App Video Flickers When watching The Goldbergs in the Apple TV app on my Fall 2019 MacBook Pro (purchased in the iTunes store), the video will flicker occasionally during playback. Flickering on TV+ app when using subtitles While using the TV+ app I noticed a lot of flickering, and couldn't figure out what was causing it. I first noticed it while watching CODA and thought it was a streaming issue to do with the quality adjusting while streaming, so I tried downloading it and turning off WiFi but this didn't make a difference. Now I just started watching Dr. Brain in Korean with English subtitles and ran into the same issue. Then I noticed that the screen would flash black after a subtitle line would disappear. This always happened when the line left, and at no other times. As CODA also contains a large amount of subtitles and these are the only two films/shows I've noticed this issue on, the cause has to be the subtitles. When I turned off subtitles for Dr. Brain, the issue was resolved. How do I watch something with subtitles without having constant flickering?

TV app I've got a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) running Monterey. When I run the TV app, and play video full screen, the screen noticeably dims when any non-video elements are displayed. For example, when closed-captioning is turned off, the video displays at normal brightness, but if CC is turned on, then the screen displays the normal brightness when no CC is on the screen, but any time CC is displayed, the whole screen dims. The same thing happens when I pause the video or move the cursor (bringing up the TV player UI). I've tried to take some screen shots, but the video comes out all black (while other elements like CC or "Skip Recap" show up over the black image).

Do you experience this issue only when using the Apple TV app on your Mac, or does it happen with other devices as well?
