No preview in finder

I have a Sony A7R3 (7RM3A) and the .ARW files cannot be previewed on my Macbook pro running Monterey 12.3. As a professional photographer, this is a serious interruption to workflow. As both the camera, and this version of OS has been around for some time now I'm not sure why this hasn't been addressed yet. I have always been able to see previews of raw files created with other camera models.

No one outside of Apple knows when - or even if - the raw of any particular model of camera will be supported. It can take some time. The workaround is to use an app that has independent raw support, like Lightroom etc. These tend to support new models faster.

Yes, I am using Lightroom, but as others have stated, it is a pain to take that route as preview is often the first opportunity for retaining, sorting, or even identifying what is on the particular SD card etc.

For those knowledgeable, Just curious as to how the model of camera influences the actual structure of an image file, to the degree it can’t be viewed by preview. Could it be as simple as image size, since this cameras sensor is of higher resolution than ordinary?
