HOW DO YOU Connect Yamaha Digital Piano P 125 to GarageBAND? I am having trouble. Do I need to download drivers to garageband? where do I find them? I input my wire from my keyboard to a a converter then to the Mac, is that wrong

Connecting YES2 PSR-172 to Garageband Before I get into this question, I want to say that I am not sure if this is even related to apple and this is my first time attempting to connect anything external to GarageBand. As the title says, I have a Yamaha Education Suite 2 model PSR-172. I am trying to connect my keyboard to GarageBand with a Forge MIDI In-Out to USB. When I go to the Audio/MIDI Preferences on GarageBand, it says 1 MIDI device detected but when I press record and play on my keyboard, nothing happens. I have seen many questions quite similar to this one but are out-dated and have a MIDI interface connected to their Mac instead of an adapter like I do. I have gone over and over the manual and can't find anything related to connecting to an AU application. My OS is MacOS Catalina 10.15.7.

Often Yamahas's do need drivers. We might need some more info. Note that you can only use the keyboard to play through Garageband, you cannot use Garageband to play the sounds on your Yamaha. For that you need Garageband's smarter brother, Logic.
