Hi there shadzzz,

The steps below may help get your iPhone recognized by iTunes on your PC:

If your computer doesn't recognize your connected device, you might see an unknown error or a "0xE" error. Follow these steps and try to connect your device again after each step.
1. Make sure that your iOS or iPadOS device is turned on, unlocked, and on the Home screen.
2. Check that you have the latest software on your Mac or Windows PC. If you're using iTunes, make sure you have the latest version.
3. If you see a Trust this Computer alert, unlock your device and tap Trust. If you can't unlock your device because you forgot your passcode, find out what to do.
4. Unplug all USB accessories from your computer except for your device. Try each USB port to see if one works. Then try a different Apple USB cable.*
5. Restart your computer.
6. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.
7. Follow these additional steps for your Mac or Windows PC
8. Try connecting your device to another computer. If you have the same issue on another computer, contact Apple Support.

This information, and the next steps to take if the issue persists, can be found in If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

We hope this helps.

Hi shadzzz,

Thanks for the update on your situation.

Is your iPhone being detected by the computer at all?

You can check the Windows Device Manager to see if it's detected as detailed in this article:

If your Windows PC doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If your device is not detected at all and you're sure the cable is good, then it could be there's an issue with the port the cable is plugging into on the iPhone, and you should check it for debris or other contaminants. You could clear it with a soft bristle brush and by firmly pressing in the Lightning cable to the iPhone a few times.

There's some info about cleaning the port here:

If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge

If you've been taken through these steps with support and you need further guidance we recommend continuing to work with Apple Support:

Thanks for your reply, but I/m afraid it's not helpful.

Step 1 - Check/Done

Step 2 - Check/Done

Step 3 - Check/Done

Step 4 - Check/Done (This step is not considering the fact that the same cable and same USB port works for other iPhones that are running iOS 15.3 or older) So why should the accessory or USB port matter if I connect another iPhone with iOS 15.4 ?

Step 5 - Check/Done (even though it does not matter logically)

Step 6 - Check/Done (even though it does not matter logically)

Step 7 - Check/Done (even though it does not matter logically)

Step 8 - Check/Done (even though it does not matter logically. Another PC running Windows11 - Same problem)

Unfortunately the Apple senior level support (they probably call it tier 2 or 3) could not provide any solution. All they concluded is that during the upgrade of iOS they could be some data corruption if you do it via Wifi and that my Wifi may not be strong or reliable enough. (I hate to dismiss a senior level support, but in this case they are clueless, I am sorry to say)

iOS 15.4 has some issues that Apple has not tested for. That's all I can conclude.

I am sorry but this is not helpful.

my iPhone is detected nicely by the computer and works great with some 3rd party iPhone management software and ALSO by iTunes but just that iTunes thinks my iPhone needs to be factory reset before I can manage it.

There are:

NO issues with Laptop (WIndows PC)

NO issues with cable

NO issues with iPhone running iOS 15.3.1

When I connect my iPhone having the iOS 15.4, iTunes wants to factory reset the iPhone!!!!
