Files just disappeared from folder

Hello all, I was just about to drag some files to GitHub, while I accidentally pressed an option-command-spacebar-letter combination (not sure exactly what, my finger slipped from cmd-c), and all the marked files just disappeared at once! couldn't find them in the clipboard, in the trash, in the finder or in my program source files. they have just disappeared in a press of a button. how do I recover them or revert the folder to where it was last edited?
