How can I get the GoPro to be recognized as a camera on Mac mini M1?

I just bought a new Mac mini M1 for video processing off of my GoPro. Have been using Quick on my iPhone an iMovie to process. Can't find Quick available on the AppStore for the GoPro. Hero 10 is not recognized on the Mac mini as a camera. Downloaded GoPro Player thinking it would help. Nope. Now GoPro player will not remove form my desktop.

Help...How can I get the gopro to be recognized as a camera so I can movie video files into iMovie for editing on the desktop. Importing from GoPro to my phone then moving to the desktop seems to be loosing some video quality.

Help make my life easier.
