Phone case stained after less than 24 hours

i bought an otter box lumen series phone case for $79.95. It’s bright orange around the sides and clear on the back. In less than a day of using it I noticed the orange part on the sides had gone black. I tried cleaning it with warm soapy water but it wouldn’t come off. I immediately put it back in its box and I’m wondering if I can return it since I am very unhappy with the product after only using it for a day.
