I have created a folder on my desktop into which I am trying to transfer a year's worth of Photos( I want to do the same for a number of years to archive them on an external HD to save space).
Howeve, while the majority have exported just fine, I am getting the same message for some the photos which says I don't have permission to access the folder I have just created - why might this be?
System settings>apple ID>Options (next to iCloud drive)> then uncheck desktop and documents folder.
Not saying this will definitely fix the issue.
Do you have exceeded your cloud storage or do you still have plenty of free cloud storage?
There have been plenty of problems with Apple's cloud servers tonight, which are now shown as resolved. You may want to try again later: Apple - Support - System Status
Restart your Mac, make sure, you are signed into iCloud and have enough free storage, both on your Mac and in iCloud, then try again.
Must admit - I don't understand it either. As you say, possibly just a glitch. Perhaps a safe mode restart would have fixed it also.
Not sure I understand the significance of your question. When I am conducting an internal transfer of files from my Photos Library to a folder on my Desktop how would my iCloud storage capacity be a factor?
I hope this is only a temporary glitch, Tony. I had never problems to export from my Photos Library directly to a folder on iCloud Drive, or the Desktop in iCloud, unless the files were huge and too large for iCloud. Or, if two files in the same export had the same filename.
If you are syncing your desktop/documents folders with iCloud it can be a factor.
Ok. If that is a possible factor, (dumb question coming up) how can I un-sync with iCloud temporarily in order to allow me to transfer these, and other years' worth of photos to a similar folder?
