Location of Contact not saving properly

Hi,

I add a location in maps to an existing contact. The right information saves to the contact but,

When I search for that contact in maps, I'm getting an entirely different location.

I search the contact in maps in macOS and I get the right suggestion. When I click that suggestion, there are no results to show.

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 15

Hey kranthikatikala!

Just to test out, can you type the address for your contact in the Maps app and check to see if you get the same incorrect pin dropped?

Also, confirm that Siri & Search settings are turned on for both apps: Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

"Change search settings

You can change the search settings to limit which apps and results appear while you're searching. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings and tap Siri & Search.
  2. Scroll down and select an app.
  3. Then select Show App in Search, Show Content in Search, Show on Home Screen, Suggest App, or Suggest Notifications.

To turn off Siri Suggestions for all apps, go to Settings > Siri & Search, and turn off the settings you want."

Regards.

Hi there kranthikatikala,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities!

Testing for the same issue on macOS was a great step to try.

Do you notice the same issue on other iOS or iPadOS devices, as well, or only on this iPhone?

Also, does it occur with every contact you add a location for?

If you have multiple accounts that you sync contacts with, see if you notice the same behavior when adding locations to contacts saved with the different accounts.

Finally, if you haven't already, restart your iPhone, and check for the issue again.

Thanks!

kranthikatikala,

Thanks for the additional information regarding your maps location issue.

Support for this issue is limited on the Apple Communities site. Since the information is different than the dropped pin location, then the next step would be to please reach out to the AppleCare support team via this link for continued assistance: Get Support. All the best!

I have only one iOS Device.

I added location for another contact and it happens to that contact too.

I sync contacts only with iCloud

Finally, if you haven't already, restart your iPhone, and check for the issue again.

I restarted the phone and the same issue continues.

Hi Dustin_R_308,

I'm trying to get directions to that contact's registered location like home, work, etc. I'm not trying to check their current location.

Dustin_R_308 wrote:
If you go to the contact card directly, and tap the address, are you shown the accurate directions to get to that location?

The location placement on the map is wrong. If I select the home address of a contact, the dropped pin drops at some place far away from the actual location. So, finally, it would give directions to the wrong location.
