MAC STUDIO M1 MAX: Ethernet port not working

New Mac Studio picked up today. Hard wired ethernet port is not working. Tried different cables, and different ports on switch with no change in behavior. Ran system update via wifi, but no change.

What it is doing:

Interface toggles the state between "not connected" and "cable unplugged"

Trying to change the ethernet hardware to be configured "manually" instead of "automatically" does not work, because it is toggled immediately back to "automatically".

Ideas?

We disconnected the cable, and it stopped the interface toggling.

Then we were able to set up the interface manually, reconnect the cable and it worked.

But.... This still seems like an issue that should be addressed by Apple....

Be sure to contact support.

Get Support

They will have you do some simple steps to rule out software conflicts. Then you need to be assertive and not let them say, "Oh well" but press on toward either a solution or a trackable Bug Report.
