I just upgraded my operating system and am about to use time machine to restore my iMac. Should I restore system and network files or will that mess up the operating system upgrade?

I just upgraded my operating system. The machine was erased as part of the process. Now I need to restore using Time Machine. Should that include system and network files or will that wipe out the upgrade?

hmmm...Not sure why the machine was erased...(?) t to upgrade the macOS

If your macOS is installed I would just move your User..

The most trouble free way to move to a new machine, is using the Setup Assistant on the initial boot of a brand new machine— you have one shot here. Set up your MacBook Pro - Apple Support

The second best way is use the Migration Assistant.
