M1 iMac MacOS 12.3 - crashing on sleep

Most nights when my machine goes to sleep, the machine will not wake up. I'm forced to hold the power button dow for 10 seconds, and then power back on.

SMC and PRAM both were reset trying to clear this problem.

Don't leave external hard drives attached when you let the computer go to sleep, or make sure your Energy Saver settings do not put hard drives to sleep. Many USB devices are not aware of the low power mode that Energy Saver puts the ports in, and will leave the drives unreadable until restart.

You don't need to install any optimizers like Cocktail and Maintain on a Mac. The worst are Mackeeper, CleanMyMac, and Advanced Mac Cleaner. They clean caches while the system is writing them leaving the system unable to launch its applications if timing is not working. Speed issues are often due to internet asynchronisity, overdependence on iCloud for storage, or attempting to run a backup while you are using the machine. Remove all optimizers. These are what are crashing your Mac.

Firstly the 24 " iMac with Apple Silicon M1 CPU does not have an SMC and can not be reset via the older Intel Method.
