Monterey Quicktime

What are the best amateur tools to use to easily get back the features of QT pro 7.

Be able to play a section of movie in a loop
Show time code and progress bar always & not in picture
Adjust brightness and color
Easy cut and paste to rearrange sections of movies.
Play .mov, .avi files.
Any chance apple will bring these back to QT?

Where is Quicktime Player 7 on my system? I recently discovered that I still have QT 7 on my system when I did an "open with". I found my old QT7 Pro reg and entered it and it worked (now I have the A/V controls etc). The odd thing is I can't see the application anywhere. It doesn't appear anywhere in my Applications folder or in iCloud folder. Apparently the only way to access it is through the "open with" command. So where is the QT 7 application launching from???

Quicktime Player 'Duplicate' greyed out in OS Ventura Has anyone else experienced this? 'Duplicate' is greyed out on the QT Player in Ventura. (I'm trying to make a copy of QT to record two streams of video at the same time.) Works just fine in Monterey (I can make multiple copies of QT), but in Ventura, no luck..keyboard shortcuts to dupe QT in Ventura don't work either. Thank you for any advice. Phil

Alternatives to QuickTime 7 Pro? Hi. I just migrated from Mojave to Ventura. I’m sorry to lose QuickTime 7 Pro, although I’ve found a couple of programs that can replicate most of the functions I used to use regularly. For example, I use IINA for playlists of clips, and I use Shutter Encoder for converting to other codecs. But one function of QT7 Pro has been tricky to replace: The ease to isolate smaller portions and paste as a fresh clip. It was like FCP7 Lite: If I’m watching a long clip and want to subclip it, I just hit Mark In and then a Mark Out, Copy and Paste it into a fresh QT clip and Save As. Easy peasy and FAST. (I might pull a dozen or so fragments from a larger clip, as part of my reviewing process.) But I’ve yet to find another player with this function. I bet I can approximate it in Shutter Encoder, but it’s cumbersome. While I’m trying to master that (I’ll report back if I crack the code), does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a player I’m missing? My brief exposure to FCPX leads me to believe that this isn’t such an easy thing to do, but maybe I’m wrong? (Does FCPX make “subclips”?) iMovie? I have very little knowledge of this program. Going into Premiere Pro may be an option, but the license isn’t free and it’s more work than I’d like to do. Again: It was so fast and easy to do this in QTPro 7, incl opening the clips and saving the new ones. Have others pined over the loss of QT7 Pro? It was one of the reasons I stayed with Mojave for so long. Where can I voice my opinion to Apple that I’d be grateful if they created a new player that included those functions. Thanks!

Most of those are available in iMovie. Quicktime is no longer a video editor as the Pro version of 7 was, it is just a Video player now, so no, its unlikely it will ever have those features again with iMovie being available.

IINA, 2. insert timecode so the new QT shows it, 4. current QT or Avidemux or MPEG Streamclip or old QT 7 Pro Player in VMware Fusion in OS X 10.6 Server - 10.4 VM, 5. current QT or IINA/VLC for obsolete codecs, 6. Some source in distant past said that Apple would do it but am not holding my breath.
