My ipad doesnt come up as an option in display preferences to use as a sidecar

Im using a macbook pro 2020 and my ipad is an ipad pro so they both should have the function but when i go to the display preferences my ipad doesnt come up as an option. Ive tried connecting them by bluetooth aswell but its just not working. Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks!
